About this Tour
Introducing a new package tour combining 2 hours of semi custom-made Tokyo sightseeing trip with Traditional Japanese Paper “Washi” Making experience!
Recently attained the UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage nomination, traditional Japanese handmade paper is called “Wa (Japanese) Shi (Paper)” as opposed to “Yo(Western) Shi (Paper)” which came to Japan during Meiji period from western countries. The “Washi” is made utilizing a unique practice known as “nagashi-suki”, utilizing fibers taken from select plants to attain a delicate yet surprisingly durable texture. Resilient against water, it has been time-tested that Washi can last over 1000 years. Yet, due to its handcraft nature, Washi features softness and warms of hand-made items, and offer a large variety depending on craftsmen and locality of where it is made. Please join us in this unique experience to make and bring home Washi of your own at the facility “Ozu Washi” with a deep-seeded history since 1653!
*Your chauffeur will serve as a translator between you and your instructor during the Washi making session
